Hiding and redisplaying room elements

You can hide and redisplay room elements such as the Calendar, Tasks folder, and Security information. To display the Calendar, check the box next to Calendar under "Show/Hide -- Check the items that you would like to show in this room." To hide the Calendar, remove the checkmark from the box next to Calendar.

If you are not managing a project in the current room and therefore don't want to use the Tasks folder in the room, you can remove it from the table of contents of the room. If you removed the Tasks folder from a room and want it to reappear, you can add it back to the table of contents.

To display the Tasks folder, check the box next to Tasks under "Show/Hide -- Check the items that you would like to show in this room." To hide the Tasks folder, remove the checkmark from the box next to Tasks.

If you don't want visitors to the room to see the entire list of QuickPlace members who have access to the room, you can hide that list. When a visitor to the room clicks Room Security in the table of contents, she sees information about her own access level in that room only. If you hid the list of members and want it to reappear, you can set up the room so that, when a visitor to the room clicks Room Security in the table of contents, she sees information about her own access level and the access levels of all the other members who have access to that room. Managers of the room can always see the entire list and change access levels in the room, regardless of the way you choose to display security information in the room.

To display the list of QuickPlace members who have access to the room and the access level of each member, check the box next to "Room Security (check to show Room Security to readers and authors)." To hide all the access information except for the information on the access level of the member currently viewing the security information, remove the checkmark from the box next to "Room Security (check to show Room Security to readers and authors)."

Hiding and redisplaying the calendar in a room

If you don't want to use the Calendar in a room, you can remove it from the table of contents for the room. Similarly, if you removed the Calendar from a room and want it to reappear, you can add it back to the table of contents for the room.To remove or redisplay the calendar:

  1. Enter the room where you want to hide or redisplay the Calendar.
  2. In the table of contents, click Customize if you are in the top-level room or Room Options if you are in an inner room.
  3. Click Basics.
  4. Click Change Basics.
  5. Under "Show/Hide -- Check the items that you would like to show in this room," check the box next to Calendar to display the calendar or remove the checkmark from the box to hide the calendar.
  6. Click Done.
Hiding and redisplaying the tasks folder

You can manage a project in a room by tracking tasks defined in task pages. A task page describes a piece of work that will move the project toward completion; identifies the QuickPlace member responsible for performing the task; lists the start and due dates for the task; and lists other characteristics of the task, for example, its priority.

The Tasks folder displays information on all the tasks you created for a project. You can alternate between a standard list of task pages, like the list of pages in a folder, and a timeline view of the tasks, which displays each task as a set of highlights in calendar-like form.

To begin hiding or redisplaying the Tasks folder, click Change Basics.

Hiding and redisplaying security information

The Room Security page shows you the type of access you have in the current room.

If you have reader privileges, you can read some or all of the pages in the rom. If you have author privileges, you can create pages in the room, as well as read pages. If you have manager privileges, you can read and create pages; create folders and forms, determine who has access to the room, and decorate or change the appearance of the room. As a manager, you can also create subrooms and change folder options.

If you want members with access to the current room to be able to see who else has access to that room, you can display the Room Security page in the room. Only members with manager access to the room can change access levels in that room, however.

If you want each member to be able to get information on his or her own access privileges in the room, but you want to prevent members from seeing information on each other's access privileges in the same room, you can hide the access level information in the Room Security page. If a member clicks Room Security in the table of contents when the access level information is hidden, QuickPlace displays information on that member's access privileges only.

To begin hiding or redisplaying security information, click Change Basics.
